The Vikings spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
The Thrash pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 12 they get their guy under center for the next decade. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nate Wiggins in pick 44 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Blake Fisher in the 127th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They took Shemar Turner at par in slot 133, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Javion Cohen at the 149th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No drama and no debate, Lathan Ransom went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Tre Harris in pick No. 165; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cody Schrader. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They robbed the room for Jamari Thrash here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Francisco Mauigoa in slot 226 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
