The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Bo Nix, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Reaching for Henderson left real value on the table behind him. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In the end it comes back to Bo Nix, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 26 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at pick No. 44 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Christian Haynes in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Michael Hall Jr. at Round 3, Pick 26 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jaden Hicks at the 112th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They left a pile of value on the table to take LaDarius Henderson this early at slot 135. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Braelon Allen. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jaylan Ford in pick 180 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A straight-up fair deal on Trevor Keegan at pick 225, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
