The Raiders ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.
If Gore Jr. pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They banked enough surplus on Jones to cover a lot of smaller sins.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 19 they get a ballhawk on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Edgerrin Cooper at the 50th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
T'Vondre Sweat at pick 52 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board had cheaper options than Bralen Trice at Round 2, Pick 21, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Dominick Puni at No. 83 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for Sataoa Laumea in the 112th overall pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jarrian Jones at pick No. 149 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jacob Cowing in the Round 5 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid a round early for Frank Gore Jr. in pick No. 209, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
