Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Raiders came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
Getting Proctor where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Quay Walker deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Chop Robinson at slot 44 is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Mike Sainristil in No. 77 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Tykee Smith in pick 113 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Tommy Eichenberg in pick No. 147 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Good price on Javon Baker in the 190th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Steal is underselling it; Josh Proctor at No. 221 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
They liked Brevyn Spann-Ford enough to skip the value, taking him in the 231st pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
