Start where it matters. The Vikings took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
On value alone, Johnson makes the weekend a net positive. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A conviction pick on Jackson Powers-Johnson at slot 42 that the board grades a round light. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Khyree Jackson at Round 4, Pick 8 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Malik Washington at pick No. 129 is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Cedric Gray in the 148th pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Nice patience on Dylan Laube, who had no business lasting to No. 160. A need, and now a little less of one.
Braelon Allen slid further than he should have, and pick 168 is lovely value for the running back. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Cedric Johnson in the 179th overall pick, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Somehow Sam Hartman was still sitting there in the 230th pick, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
