The rest of the league will want that one back. Jacob Cowing tumbling to the Eagles in pick No. 163 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get a weapon on the perimeter, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at Round 2, Pick 18 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jeremiah Trotter Jr.. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Somehow Javon Bullard was still sitting there in slot 97, and they pounced on premier safety value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Steal is underselling it; DJ James at the 137th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jacob Cowing in pick 163 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They barely believed it either: Tyrice Knight still on the board at the 172nd pick. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
You do not let a tight end like Theo Johnson reach the Round 6 slot and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
