The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Vikings spent their marquee pick on J.J. McCarthy, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Every board in the league had Okie-Anoma lower, and that gap is the story. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Ulofoshio steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get their quarterback of the future. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Max Melton in Round 3, Pick 27. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Maason Smith in the 113th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good price on Johnny Wilson in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Christian Jones in slot 138. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A quiet steal in pick No. 157: Mason McCormick for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. is a better player than the 167th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Nice patience on Sione Vaki, who had no business lasting to pick 169. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dwight McGlothern in the 177th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
A slide stopped in No. 228, with Caedan Wallace worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value with a capital V on JD Bertrand in Round 7, Pick 10, a genuine coup. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Eyabi Okie-Anoma this early at pick No. 232. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Somehow Edefuan Ulofoshio was still sitting there in slot 255, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
