There is a lot to like until you notice wide receiver is still a hole. The Eagles never got to the one that mattered most. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The cost of the Richardson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Zinter falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 22 they get a premier pass rusher, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than T.J. Tampa at Round 2, Pick 18, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 53 with a little surplus value in Edgerrin Cooper. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A quiet steal in No. 120: Zak Zinter for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reach on Decamerion Richardson in the Round 5 slot; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on James Williams at the 171st overall pick, value and slot in agreement. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Jaheim Bell at the 172nd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
