The board owed the Eagles one, and it paid up: Jarrian Jones, the No. 136 name on the board, sitting there at Round 5, Pick 25 like a gift left on the doorstep.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Jefferson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Nate Wiggins in the Round 1 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nice patience on Javon Bullard, who had no business lasting to Round 2, Pick 18. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Payton Wilson at slot 53 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Isaac Guerendo at No. 120 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They robbed the room for Jarrian Jones here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Walter Rouse at pick 171. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jordan Jefferson in pick No. 172 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
