When a board-topper like Danny Stutsman slides to slot 178, you do not overthink it, and the Raiders did not. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The whole projection now runs through Cam Ward; hit there and everything else looks smarter. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 6 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Circle this one: Omarion Hampton at the 37th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Deone Walker went about where he belonged in slot 68. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Steal is underselling it; Xavier Watts at the 73rd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A slide stopped in Round 4, Pick 5, with Tai Felton worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No edge and no loss on Hayden Conner in pick No. 142; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taking Danny Stutsman in pick 178 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They will replay Kobe Hudson at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Ollie Gordon II in the 216th overall pick, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jack Kiser at No. 222 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
