The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Raiders reached some 57 spots for Jaxson Dart, and value like that does not grow back. A F, plain and simple.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Jaxson Dart gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The Reed value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
In the end, a class that has to defy its grades just to matter.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get a long-term answer under center, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
A tidy bit of business in slot 68, where TreVeyon Henderson graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Cam Skattebo. The roster fit checks out.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tez Johnson at pick No. 107 is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Joshua Farmer reach pick 144 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
By-the-book stuff, JJ Pegues at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
They did well to land Ricky White III in Round 6, Pick 36, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taking Jaylen Reed in No. 218 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Alijah Huzzie slipping to pick No. 224 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
