There is conviction, and then there is this. The Raiders took Sam Hartman a full 23 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. That Edwards pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, JC Latham went about where he belonged in the Round 1 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They took Xavier Worthy at par in Round 2, Pick 22, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Khyree Jackson slipping to pick No. 96 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Christian Jones at the 148th overall pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Daijun Edwards in pick 206 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Sam Hartman at No. 235 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Frank Gore Jr. at the Round 7 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
