The rest of the league will want that one back. Kobe King tumbling to the Raiders in the 216th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
The cost of the Rourke reach is exactly the players who went right after him. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 37 with a little surplus value in Isaiah Bond. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kurtis Rourke at No. 68 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
You do not let a running back like Kaleb Johnson reach Round 3, Pick 9 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow Smael Mondon Jr. was still sitting there in the 142nd pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They barely believed it either: Cam Skattebo still on the board at slot 178. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Jordan Hancock here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Kobe King in pick 216, plain and simple. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Nick Nash in the 222nd pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
