Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Raiders were there to profit. Cam Skattebo, the No. 110 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 212. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C-.
The Rourke reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get a true top target at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Benjamin Morrison at pick 37, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kenneth Grant at the 39th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kurtis Rourke in the Round 3 slot, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
TreVeyon Henderson at slot 106 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Taking Jake Majors in Round 5, Pick 5 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jay Higgins at pick No. 178 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor itch, scratched.
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to No. 212, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Cody Simon here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Nick Nash in Round 7, Pick 6 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
