When a board-topper like Cam Skattebo slides to pick No. 183, you do not overthink it, and the Raiders did not. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Thornton Jr. reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an every-down engine for the run game. A real need, handled.
Taking Nick Emmanwori in the 39th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Quinn Ewers well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Steal is underselling it; Jalon Walker at Round 3, Pick 6 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A quiet steal in No. 106: Jermari Harris for less than the market said. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Value said wait; Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 146th pick says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A running back of that caliber at pick 183 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Miles Frazier is a better player than slot 212 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They took Logan Parr at par in the 216th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on Kaden Prather at pick 223, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
