The Raiders spent real capital to be 80 picks early on Jordan Travis, and the board is going to hold them to it. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Milton III. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
So much rides on Jackson Powers-Johnson that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 21 they get a cornerstone up front, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Christian Haynes at the 44th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A wild overpay on Jordan Travis in the 77th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Xavier Legette at Round 3, Pick 14 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A big swing on Dylan Laube at slot 113, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid up for Mason McCormick at pick No. 147 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Gabe Hall at slot 210, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nice patience on Nathaniel Watson, who had no business lasting to pick No. 221. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Garret Greenfield at the 225th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Joe Milton III in No. 227 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
