The Mohamed Kamara selection is the head-turner. The Raiders reached 40 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
Landing Hopper that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get an anchor for the defensive front, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
No edge and no loss on J.J. McCarthy in pick No. 44; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
They talked themselves into Mohamed Kamara at pick 77, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A big swing on James Williams at slot 112, well ahead of any board in the building. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Fair-plus on Dylan Laube, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Circle this one: Ty'Ron Hopper at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Jha'Quan Jackson at No. 234 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
