The Raiders treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 3 slot on Joe Milton III a full 122 spots early. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The Pritchett pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 13 they get a long-term starter on the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at the 45th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They reached into another round for Joe Milton III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They liked McKinnley Jackson enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 4, Pick 13. It fills a real need, too.
Circle this one: Isaac Guerendo at the 147th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 149 with a little surplus value in Tommy Eichenberg. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Nehemiah Pritchett in the Round 6 slot, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They will replay Tahj Washington at No. 221 for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Braiden McGregor at the 225th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a linebacker like Jaylan Ford reach pick 227 and blink. They did not. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
