Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders kept it disciplined and banked a B.

There is reaching, and then there is Spencer Rattler at the 44th pick. The Raiders jumped the board by 73 and dared it to prove them wrong. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

That Rosemy-Jacksaint pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.27 · Pick 27 · Amarius Mims · OT · rank 23
In the 27th overall pick they get a long-term starter on the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.3 · Pick 35 · Kamari Lassiter · CB · rank 41
Kamari Lassiter at the 35th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Spencer Rattler · QB · rank 117
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Spencer Rattler well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Kris Abrams-Draine · CB · rank 77
No drama and no debate, Kris Abrams-Draine went about where he belonged in pick No. 77. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.27 · Pick 90 · Blake Corum · RB · rank 83
Blake Corum in pick 90 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
R4.13 · Pick 113 · Xavier Legette · WR · rank 73
They robbed the room for Xavier Legette here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.11 · Pick 147 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 146
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tykee Smith. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R6.35 · Pick 210 · Jaylan Ford · LB · rank 195
Nice patience on Jaylan Ford, who had no business lasting to pick No. 210. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R7.1 · Pick 221 · Eric Watts · DL-EDGE · rank 203
Circle this one: Eric Watts at No. 221 is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.2 · Pick 222 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 206
Nathaniel Watson at the Round 7 slot is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Josh Proctor · S · rank 214
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Josh Proctor at slot 227. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
R7.21 · Pick 241 · Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint · WR · rank 197
They barely believed it either: Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint still on the board at Round 7, Pick 21. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
