Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Raiders spent pick No. 247 on Jaylon Hutchings, a name the board had a full 107 spots lower.

The Johnson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · Olumuyiwa Fashanu · OT · rank 8
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a blindside protector at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Michael Pratt · QB · rank 140
Michael Pratt at the Round 2 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.18 · Pick 82 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 58
They barely believed it either: Javon Bullard still on the board at slot 82. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 83
Khyree Jackson at pick No. 112 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.12 · Pick 148 · Logan Lee · DL · rank 211
Value said wait; Logan Lee in the 148th overall pick says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
R5.20 · Pick 156 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 129
Somehow Isaac Guerendo was still sitting there in the 156th pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.33 · Pick 208 · Erick All · TE · rank 204
Erick All in pick 208 lands just on the right side of the ledger. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.36 · Pick 211 · Myles Murphy · DL · rank 226
A premium they did not need to pay, Myles Murphy a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.3 · Pick 223 · Cornelius Johnson · WR · rank 189
Cornelius Johnson in pick No. 223 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Keaton Bills · OG · rank 240
Keaton Bills in Round 7, Pick 7 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.14 · Pick 234 · J.J. Weaver · LB-EDGE · rank 317
A big swing on J.J. Weaver at the 234th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R7.18 · Pick 238 · Jordan Magee · LB · rank 222
They read the board right and Jordan Magee was the payoff at the Round 7 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R7.27 · Pick 247 · Jaylon Hutchings · DL · rank 354
Jaylon Hutchings at No. 247 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
R7.31 · Pick 251 · Frank Gore Jr. · RB · rank 225
You do not let a running back like Frank Gore Jr. reach the 251st overall pick and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
