The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Michael Penix Jr., and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Every board in the league had Okie-Anoma lower, and that gap is the story. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Dixon.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · Michael Penix Jr. · QB · rank 13
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around at fair value.
R2.14 · Pick 46 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 37
Jordan Morgan at pick No. 46 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.27 · Pick 90 · Jonah Elliss · DE-EDGE · rank 89
Jonah Elliss in the 90th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Cam Hart · CB · rank 101
Cam Hart in slot 104 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Will Shipley · RB · rank 108
A tidy little value on Will Shipley in the 112th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.17 · Pick 117 · Theo Johnson · TE · rank 124
No edge and no loss on Theo Johnson in pick 117; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.12 · Pick 148 · Ainias Smith · WR · rank 141
Good price on Ainias Smith in Round 5, Pick 12, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.11 · Pick 186 · Justin Rogers · DL · rank 193
A straight-up fair deal on Justin Rogers at No. 186, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.3 · Pick 223 · Steele Chambers · LB · rank 199
Steele Chambers at the 223rd overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R7.6 · Pick 226 · Johnny Dixon · CB · rank 190
Johnny Dixon in Round 7, Pick 6 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Eyabi Okie-Anoma · DL-EDGE · rank 285
Eyabi Okie-Anoma at pick No. 227 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R7.9 · Pick 229 · Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint · WR · rank 195
They robbed the room for Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.14 · Pick 234 · C.J. Hanson · OG · rank 263
A real head-scratcher, C.J. Hanson in the 234th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Evan Williams · S · rank 214
Evan Williams in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor itch, scratched.
