The Raiders torched the value chart for DeMonte Capehart, taking him 67 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
Landing Proctor that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a press-man option on the boundary. The biggest hole, addressed.
They took Graham Barton at par in pick No. 44, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nothing to complain about; Junior Colson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
No edge and no loss on Leonard Taylor III in the 113th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid a round early for Braelon Allen in the Round 5 slot, more than the board wanted. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reach on Aki Ogunbiyi in slot 190; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They robbed the room for Josh Proctor here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
DeMonte Capehart in pick 231 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
