Somebody in the Round 5 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Vikings sat still while Lathan Ransom, the No. 101 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Job largely done: safety settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get a workhorse for the backfield at a price that makes it sweeter.
Somehow TreVeyon Henderson was still sitting there in the 97th overall pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled Jake Majors all the way to pick 138, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
You do not let a safety like Lathan Ransom reach slot 159 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
