Grand theft in pick 159: the Vikings steal Ransom and grade out a B.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Lathan Ransom, the No. 102 name on the board, stolen at the 159th pick. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Safety is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.24 · Pick 24 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
In No. 24 they get a workhorse for the backfield, outstanding value to boot.
R3.33 · Pick 97 · Darien Porter · CB · rank 79
Darien Porter in the 97th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R5.1 · Pick 138 · Jake Majors · C · rank 92
Jake Majors at slot 138 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.22 · Pick 159 · Lathan Ransom · S · rank 102
They will replay Lathan Ransom at Round 5, Pick 22 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
