Every other box got a look, but wide receiver did not. The Raiders will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
The Edwards steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The Nathan Shepherd pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 14 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at the 44th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Christian Mahogany in pick No. 77 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Jordan Travis went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Daijun Edwards at the 147th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Grayson Murphy at par in pick 169, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
