The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. A mixed bag that lands at C+.
The Washington pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Byrd has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 3 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
A tidy bit of business in the 77th pick, where Christian Haynes graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jarvis Brownlee Jr.. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Isaiah Davis in pick 160 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
A cornerback of that caliber at pick No. 208 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Tahj Washington in the 223rd overall pick, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Solomon Byrd at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
