Call it larceny. Sheridan Jones sat on the board until the 246th pick, and the Eagles did not need to be asked twice. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Johnson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a potential shutdown corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
They liked Jeremiah Trotter Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 50. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Javon Bullard in Round 2, Pick 22 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zak Zinter. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jalen McMillan slipping to the 97th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A conviction pick on Theo Johnson at pick 137 that the board grades a round light. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaylen Wright in pick No. 163. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nice patience on LaDarius Henderson, who had no business lasting to the Round 5 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Frank Gore Jr. at slot 178 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Zion Logue in pick 243 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Circle this one: Sheridan Jones at the 246th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
