The Raiders spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Cam Skattebo, the No. 114 name on the board, in pick No. 183. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They will need Ewers to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 8 they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A running back of that caliber at the 39th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Quinn Ewers well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A slide stopped in pick No. 70, with Dylan Fairchild worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay Malachi Moore at Round 4, Pick 5 for years; that is how good the value is. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They barely believed it either: Danny Stutsman still on the board at pick 146. A minor itch, scratched.
Cam Skattebo in slot 183 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
