Thirty-one other rooms let Jha'Quan Jackson slide, and the Raiders were the ones holding the card at pick 223. Highway robbery. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
Pratt has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 13 they get a ballhawk on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
A reach on Kingsley Suamataia in the 48th overall pick; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Michael Pratt well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They took Ray Davis at par in No. 112, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Fair-plus on Tommy Eichenberg, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Javontae Jean-Baptiste at Round 6, Pick 33 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They barely believed it either: Jha'Quan Jackson still on the board at slot 223. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
You do not let a cornerback like M.J. Devonshire reach the 227th overall pick and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nothing to complain about; Myles Murphy went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had cheaper options than Brevyn Spann-Ford at pick No. 236, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
By-the-book stuff, Solomon Byrd at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
