There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Vikings started one anyway for Chad Lindberg, 21 picks ahead of schedule. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 11 they get a premier pass rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A straight-up fair deal on Kris Jenkins at pick No. 42, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid up for Dillon Johnson at slot 108 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value said wait; Ty'Ron Hopper in the Round 4 slot says they were not listening. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 148 with a little surplus value in Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid sticker price for LaDarius Henderson in the 160th overall pick, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Fair-plus on Joe Milton III, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Josh Proctor at pick No. 179 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Chad Lindberg at No. 230 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
