The board owed the Cardinals one, and it paid up: Adonai Mitchell, the No. 34 name on the board, sitting there at the 71st pick like a gift left on the doorstep. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The cost of the Dorlus reach is exactly the players who went right after him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get a bendy edge with upside, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In No. 24 they get a press-man option on the boundary. Need was not the driver here.
Brandon Dorlus at pick 35 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A conviction pick on Christian Mahogany at the 66th pick that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They robbed the room for Adonai Mitchell here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Roman Wilson at Round 4, Pick 4 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; Ainias Smith at the 140th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board fumbled Jared Wiley all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
