The Raiders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Ja'Quinden Jackson fell into No. 221. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Every board in the league had Cornelius lower, and that gap is the story. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
They let Tre Harris come to them and pounced at the 37th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Ajani Cornelius in No. 68, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached a country mile for Tez Johnson at the Round 3 slot, and the board is aghast. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land Carson Beck in slot 104, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Nicholas Singleton at pick No. 139 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steal is underselling it; Harold Perkins Jr. at Round 6, Pick 6 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A safety of that caliber at pick 212 is the definition of value, full stop. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They will replay Theo Wease Jr. at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Ja'Quinden Jackson at Round 7, Pick 7 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
