The board owed the Eagles one, and it paid up: Jordan Whittington, the No. 199 name on the board, sitting there at Round 7, Pick 33 like a gift left on the doorstep. The bottom line is a respectable B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. They will need Frazier to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 4 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 32 they get protection for the quarterback at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Kalen King in the 51st overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Ja'Lynn Polk in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Danny Stutsman at par in the 97th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They read the board right and Nehemiah Pritchett was the payoff at pick 137. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Antwaun Powell-Ryland at No. 147 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They talked themselves into Miles Frazier at Round 5, Pick 36, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
Steve Linton at pick No. 178 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jordan Whittington at slot 253 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
