Boards are made to be trusted, and the Vikings shredded theirs for Erick All. He came off 89 spots early, and the room will hear about it. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
It is not that Melton is a bad player; it is that the Vikings had louder needs to answer first. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Sainristil.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
A big swing on T'Vondre Sweat at pick No. 36, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A wild overpay on Brandon Dorlus in Round 2, Pick 8, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Devontez Walker at par in the 42nd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Josh Newton at the Round 3 slot is the proof. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
