Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Vikings came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Hall Jr. reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
The Vikings paired the rookies with proven help, DeVante Parker leading the way.
Bottom line, with J.J. McCarthy leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
A conviction pick on J.J. McCarthy at No. 34 that the board grades a round light. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid a round early for Michael Hall Jr. in Round 3, Pick 2, more than the board wanted. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A straight-up fair deal on Mekhi Wingo at the 68th pick, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
