The rest of the league had time to spare on Garrett Dellinger; the Raiders did not wait, grabbing him 75 spots ahead at pick 222.
That Milroe pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a load in the middle. A real need, handled.
In the 28th overall pick they get a three-down second-level presence, though they paid up to get him. Need was not the driver here.
They went early on Aireontae Ersery in Round 2, Pick 5, and the value did not follow. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, TreVeyon Henderson at the 68th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They will replay Andrew Mukuba at slot 108 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Jalen Milroe in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No drama and no debate, Dont'e Thornton Jr. went about where he belonged in slot 180. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They jumped the gun on Jaylin Lane, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They talked themselves into Isaac TeSlaa at the 215th pick, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A big swing on Garrett Dellinger at No. 222, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
