It is the swing that defines the weekend: Ty'Ron Hopper in Round 4, Pick 28, a good 44 spots before the room expected him. It washes out to a C, no better and no worse.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The Coleman value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
So much rides on Leonard Taylor III that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 28th pick they get a load in the middle. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In pick 29 they get a disruptor off the edge, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
You do not let a wide receiver like Keon Coleman reach Round 2, Pick 17 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Johnny Wilson in the 61st overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They let Trey Benson come to them and pounced at No. 90. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Beau Brade in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Ty'Ron Hopper at the 128th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A slide stopped in the 154th overall pick, with Jaylin Simpson worth more than the price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They paid sticker price for Blake Watson in pick No. 234, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Aaron Frost at slot 238, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
