Call it larceny. Jase McClellan sat on the board until the 234th overall pick, and the Raiders did not need to be asked twice.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy little value on Olumuyiwa Fashanu in the Round 1 slot, a step better than break-even. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on J.J. McCarthy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Cooper Beebe at par in No. 77, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Max Melton in slot 112 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in the 150th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Josh Proctor in the 190th overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They will replay Jase McClellan at pick No. 234 for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
