Every other box got a look, but interior defensive lineman did not. The Cardinals will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The Benson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 4 they get a home-run threat at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the 26th pick they get a blindside protector at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 35 with a little surplus value in JT Tuimoloau. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Johnny Wilson at par in pick No. 71, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Trey Benson at Round 3, Pick 26. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Braelon Allen at No. 104 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Drake Nugent at the 133rd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Javion Cohen in pick No. 140 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Austin Stogner went about where he belonged in the 188th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Phil Jurkovec. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Akheem Mesidor in pick 227 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
