The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Kyren Lacy, the 182nd overall pick, roughly 48 picks past where he belonged.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Every board in the league had Dart lower, and that gap is the story.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Ashton Jeanty and all.
Pick-by-Pick
Steal is underselling it; Ashton Jeanty at slot 34 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jaxson Dart in pick 37 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They barely believed it either: Malaki Starks still on the board at the 65th pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Taking Tyleik Williams in the 68th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nice patience on Zy Alexander, who had no business lasting to Round 3, Pick 9. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Donovan Jackson in pick No. 107 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kobe King in the Round 5 slot. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Kyren Lacy at No. 182 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Circle this one: Joshua Gray at the 214th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They read the board right and Akili Arnold was the payoff at pick No. 218. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
