The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Tahj Washington, slot 230, roughly 42 picks past where he belonged.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. The cost of the Hartman reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Dallas Turner in pick No. 15 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
In the 23rd overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Zak Zinter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had Cole Bishop higher than the Round 4 slot, and the safety fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Elijah Jones slipping to Round 4, Pick 29 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Dillon Johnson in No. 157 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Value said wait; Cornelius Johnson in the 167th pick says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, Ty'Ron Hopper at pick 177 squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Tahj Washington in pick No. 230 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They reached into another round for Sam Hartman, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
