The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Vikings watched Barrett Carter slide 96 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with safety chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Jihaad Campbell in the 97th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They barely believed it either: Andrew Mukuba still on the board at pick 108. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Somehow Jared Wilson was still sitting there in pick No. 161, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 179 is the definition of value, full stop. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
