After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Raiders committed. Michael Penix Jr. is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. With edge rusher, tight end and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on DT-EDGE is the choice that costs them.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th overall pick they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 11 with a little surplus value in Nate Wiggins. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Maason Smith adds a DT-EDGE and leaves edge rusher, tight end and other spots untouched.
A quiet steal in the Round 4 slot: Devontez Walker for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tahj Brooks. The roster fit checks out.
Reuben Fatheree II at pick 232 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
