Draft Profile: Bio
Rodrigues Clark from Starkville High School was rated a 3-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 3-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Clark joined Memphis.In 2019 as a freshman Clark saw action in 7 games for the Tigers as he ran for only 85 yards on 26 attempts for only 3.3 yards per carry, with one TD, with no fumbles. As a receiver he made no receptions for no yards.
As a sophomore in 2020 he played 9 games. and rushed for 546 yards on 136 carries for 4.0 ypc, with 2 TDs, with one fumble. In the passing game he pulled in only 9 receptions for 51 yards.
In 2021 as a junior Clark saw action in 10 games for the Tigers. He ran for 387 yards on 79 attempts for 4.9 ypc, with 4 TDs, with no fumbles. As a receiver he made only 11 receptions for 59 yards.
After season's end Clark transferred to Southern Miss where as a senior in 2023 he played 10 games and ran for 428 yards on 76 carries for an impressive average of 5.6 ypc, with 2 TDs, with one fumble. In the passing game he had 3 receptions for 11 yards.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- He’s a quality receiver with soft hands, and Clark shows a good feel for catching and transitioning upfield in the screen game.
- Flashes initial burst and good lateral quickness to sidestep defenders or bounce runs outside with very good foot quickness. Displays very good feel as an inside and outside runner with above average vision to make sharp cuts - good patience· and footwork to pick through defenses.
- Does not possess top breakaway speed, though he's rarely caught from behind.
- Clark has very good vision and a knack for picking out cut-back lanes and then breaking offchunks of yardage.
- He finishes runs well and flashes the ability to get small and squeeze through traffic.
- Clark does a nice job with recognition as a pass protector and gives good effort.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Clark has constantly ran a limited route tree.
- The lack of power shows up in pass protection, where Clark struggles to anchor when picking up blitzers.
- Clark isn’t going to overwhelm opposing defensive backs with speed and athleticism.
