Giovanni El-Hadi from Adlai Stevenson High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, El-Hadi opted to join Michigan.In 2021 as a freshman El-Hadi saw action in just one game and played a total of 11 snaps for the Wolverines. He allowed no QB hurries, no QB hits, and no sacks while playing sparingly.
As a sophomore in 2022 he played in 10 games and a total of 366 snaps. He conceded just 2 QB hurries, 3 QB hits, and no sacks while playing at left guard.
In 2023 as a junior El-Hadi saw action in 9 games and totaled 103 snaps. He gave up just one QB hurry, no QB hits, and one sack while playing at left guard.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Has good footwork and technique. Balanced and agile pass protection set with excellent hand placement.
- Quick feet to get inside of defensive tackles to wall off inside and reach linebackers at the second level.
- He’s a coordinated athlete who can win at the point of attack in the run game, and El-Hadi can also move to consistently land blocks at the second level.
- Shows good quickness and flexibility on reach blocks, and he has enough range to get out as a puller.
- Shows excellent awareness against twists and stunts, and he has the strong, flexible core and wide base to catch and handle moving defenders.
- In pass protection, he flashes a strong initial punch and typically has good hand placement.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Tends to slip off blocks when going against bigger linemen, and El-Hadi too often finishes plays on the ground.
- Had issues against quality counter moves, struggling to readjust. That’s something he’ll see frequently against NFL technicians in the pass rush.
- Could be a liability against speed-to-power pass rushers early in his career.
