Scouting Report: Strengths
- Consistently keeps his feet sliding while maintaining power when dealing with speed, often sending speed rushers flying past the pocket
- Simmons has the powerful upper body, strong core and the grip to win at the point of attack. He does a solid job as a hand fighter. He also flashes the agility to get around and land blocks as a puller.
- Mauler in the run game, playing with a nasty disposition and showing excellent snap and punch quickness.
- Simmons is a work in progress with high-end physical traits. He’s extremely light on his feet for a 300-pounder, a natural knee bender who plays with balance and leverage.
- Consistently lands blocks at the second level, and Simmons finishes strong. As a pass protector, he has violent, heavy hands. Along with a strong initial punch, he has the hand strength to grip and redirect pass rushers.
- Not to be bet against with the skills set to line up at guard or tackle. Could develop into a solid backup and eventual starter in the NFL.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Very raw technique, playing with inconsistent hand placement fails to sustain blocks.
- Often gets too high in his sets, sacrificing some of his power, and Simmons doesn’t show great coordination between his upper and lower body when sliding back in pass protection.
- Solid all-around prospect, but he’s not elite in any one area.
