Still no changes here and not an awful lot to say about this pick - the ultimate no brainer - a team with nothing at QB, with a new coach, in need of a new direction and the best player in the draft being at a premium position and fitting an enormous need. I am sure that they will still drag it out on the night for maximum drama though!

QB |
Previously we had the Falcons swapping picks with the Jets - with the Niners moving to the #3 pick you have to imagine they offered the same deal to the Jets and for them to have turned down such a great haul it must be because they have set their hearts on a QB - the consensus seems to be solidly aligned behind Wilson as the pick here.

QB |

The Niners are 100% looking to draft a QB after giving up 2 future first round picks to move up to #3 (this isn't the movie Draft Day after all) and there doesn't yet seem to be the same certainity around this pick as there is for the two before it - I am going to believe that the Niners make the smart move (and learn from the mistake they made when selecting Smith over Rodgers) and go with Justin Fields.

TE |

In many ways this is the first exciting pick of the draft as we know picks 1-3 are going to all be QBs and the Falcons could follow that trend easily and take a signal caller but with Matt Ryan able to play at least another couple of years and the Falcons having to settle for the 4th choice QB I can see them instead going for the #1 rated offensive weapon in Kyle Pitts.

OT |

For a long time I have been certain the pick here would be Sewell but the Bengals also need a #1 receiver and the bust rate with tackles is relatively high and so they may feel in fact the top receiver prospect Chase would be the better pic - but in the end I believe that they will stick with Sewell to help keep Burrows upright as it is such a deep receiver class.

WR |
Miami have traded back up to six to get a receiver and they are stoked by Chase is still on the board - previously we had them taking Smith but as the process has moved on it feels like Chase is back in the ascendency and will be the pick here,

WR |

The Lions are happy - following on from the Stafford trade I no longer have the Lions taking a QB to build around as due to the contract they will be stuck with Goff for a year or two at least and so even a developmental prospect like Trey Lance seems too early now - so instead they go with an exciting prospect at WR with their top receivers eligible to hit free agency and this time around Waddle is available (as is Smith though the buzz around him feels to be cooling a little bit). Signing Tyrell Williams does not detract from the need here.

QB |
I still see the Panthers going for a QB and in this mock both Lane and Jones are on the Board and Jones seems to have more buzz around him at this time - they need someone to be the face of the franchise post-Cam Newton and get the fan base excited for the future and that means a new franchise (they hope) QB.

QB |
The Broncos traded for Teddy Bridgewater but they still have a long term need at the position and with Lance still on the Board they decide to gamble on this boom or bust prospect. If they don't go for a QB then it will be top rated cornerback.
#10 |
CB |
CB is a premium position and we would expect to see a couple every first round - there were not many teams that gave up more passing touchdowns in 2020 than the Cowboys (and their defense as a whole was bad). After signing Prescott to a mega deal the Cowboys better start hoping they hit with a lot of their draft picks.

WR |
Giants fans are happy as this time around one of the top receiving prospects is still on the board and so they bring in the Heisman Trophy winner.
#12 |
CB |
Having dropped down the Board the top receiver prospects are gone and so the Eagles look to address another glaring need and take one of the safest defensive picks in this year's draft.
#13 |
OT |
The Chargers look to have a star in the making in Herbert and need to make sure that they keep him on the field and the Chargers still grab a big body for the line but this time around it is Darrisaw.
#14 |
DE |
The Vikings take advantage of an offensive heavy top end of the draft by taking the top pass rusher at 14.
#15 |
LB |
Patriots could go with a receiver but after spending big in free agency on tight ends and a receiver they likely feel that they have improved that area sufficiently and instead bring in the sort of versatile player that Bill loves.
#16 |
CB |
Cardinals are pretty happy with how this has played out - they have a big need at cornerback and one of the top prospects is still available. Alternatively they may go with one of the top offensive line prospects who would be good value at this point.
#17 |
LB |
With Paye off the board this time around the Raiders instead look to address their need at linebacker by taking Owusu.
#18 |
RB |
The Phins addressed their need at WR earlier and there isn't a LB that represents good value at this point and so instead the Phins look to build around their young QB by bringing in one of the top RB prospects (this would have been a pick along the offensive line if not for the recent trade for Flowers)
#19 |
WR |
All the QBs are gone and so having picked up Fitzpatrick in free agency they decide to give him some help by picking up Bateman who had a really exciting pro day.
#20 |
OT |
The Bears are feeling gutted - all the top receivers are gone, Jones is gone who was also a possibility - lots of possibilities but sticking with a receiver, just feels like a bit too much of a reach here relative to some of the offensive line talent still available.
#21 |
OT |
Having grabbed their QB of the immediate future at least in the deal to take Stafford the Colts are certainly going to need to shore up their O-line so the pick of a tackle makes even more sense than in the last mock - Cosmi's stock seems to be back on the rise and so we reinstate him here as the pick in place of Slater.
#22 |
DE |
A change here for the Titans with Rousseau slipping down the board a bit - lots of offensive skill players going early has left lots of really talented defensive prospects available to them - Rousseau was on the best outside defenders in 2019 (opting out of 2020) - a boom or bust prospect with limited tape he seems worth the risk here.
#23 |
WR |
The Jets spent big in free agency on Davis but they still need help at receiver and it makes much more sense to draft one here than to take a running back which they can easily pick up in a later round.
#24 |
OT |
Steelers are still taking a player on the offensive line as the Steelers look to protect Ben as best they can in his final season or two.
#25 |
OT |
The Jags get some help to protect Lawrence - this time around Darrisaw is gone and so they look to Jenkins instead as we see a bit of a run of offensive line players. Some really good defensive players left on the Board and so they may feel there is better value elsewhere.
#26 |
OLB |
Browns are pleased to see in this mock that Ojulari has slipped a couple of spots - a quick, versatile and powerful presence - he can become a cornerstone for the Browns
#27 |
WR |
No change here - the only way the Ravens are going to beat the Chiefs is to score more points than them (giving the Chiefs help on the offensive line probably isnt a great way to go....) and so they need to mix things up with their run heavy offense to keep defenses honest - so they look to strengthen their WR corps and with Toney gone this time they instead look to Marshall.
#28 |
LB |
This time around not only are the top CB prospects gone but so is the top safety and so instead the Saints will (unless they like the look of Jaycee Horn who is also a decent possibility here) look to address their need at linebacker with Collins who slightly surprisingly is still available at this point.
#29 |
WR |
Sticking with the same position and the same player - the Packers clearly need to keep Rodgers happy and what QB doesn't like a new toy to throw to - and they have been very quiet in free agency outside of bringing in some help at the running back spot.
#30 |
OG |
No need for any change here - a great value pick at this point, one of the top offensive line prospects in the draft and you can never have too many good players along the line as the Bills look to solidify their position at the top of the AFC East
#31 |
OT |
The Chiefs traded this pick to the Ravens in return for Orlando Brown and look to bolster their own offensive line with Leatherwood.
#32 |

DT |
No change here as the Bucs decided instead to add some youth to their defensive line, which could see some expensive departures during free agency. |
