How the 2024 NFL Draft Could Reshape the Future of Quarterback Play

 For starters, the 2024 draft was very special because of how many important quarterbacks were part of it, and the event was really a bidding war. But it’s not just that teams had to bid against one another – after all, that is what all teams do.

The event mattered because for much of the 2024 event, there were actually many people to bet on at the same time, and teams – well they have limited resources after all! Do you go after: 

• Caleb Williams (USC)
• Jayden Daniels (LSU)
• or Drake Maye (North Carolina)? 

Do you pass them all up for some other player that the scouts may have missed out on, but your internal team research suggests can be nurtured to absolute greatness? The college season and the PAC 12 changes were indeed reason enough to experience a draft like no other before. 

In a sense, this year’s draft was like blackjack online real money game. You couldn’t count all the cards, of course, but you knew that there are some factors that you need to consider before making your pick. And, just as well, you knew that whatever the pick you made, you could not have it all.

1. A Slight Shift in Player Choice

The quarterbacks will always be the first to be snagged by professional National Football League franchises and there is nothing really surprising about this. All in all, everyone wants Maye, Daniels and Williams on their team, but you can’t have them all because their egos – well, they will get in the way.

However, apart from the quarterbacks, teams have been showing an interesting proclivity for picking other players too. For example, this year’s edition of the draft saw a huge focus on offensive linemen and wide receivers, which is also signaling that priorities may be shifting in the NFL, with new strategies and trends forming.

Just like the NBA started playing more of three-point shootouts, so is the NFL changing and moving from pure brutal clashes between chunky guys, to a lither experience whereby teams are relying on maneuvering and trying to avoid painful clashes with the opposition.

The NFL is, in other words, evolving into a slightly gentler game that is relying on prowess more so than being able to power through a wall of towering players. 

2. PAC 12 Really Shines

Not least, there were some really nice picks to consider – and most of them came from the PAC 12 conference. The PAC 12 conference was indeed one of the largest contributors, and this was its last year in the current format (it’s undergoing a change in the new season), making it an interesting thing to see the conference contribute so much raw talent to the NFL draft already, among whom were:

As you can see, the PAC 12 really contributed a lot of great talent to the 2024 NFL Draft, and it made it a little more dramatic than usual. Teams were really trying their best to claim the top picks from the draft, and even when they did their best – there was still so much more to be desired! 

3. Teams Had to Think on Their Feet

Roulette 77, a specialist media that focuses on imparting vital resources about roulette, has said that one of the best qualities a player may have been to always focus on think quickly on their feet, but never actually tip into a state of mind that makes it hard for them to make good calls. 

Well, teams in the 2024 NFL Draft actually had to make compensatory selections because some of the players they were going after were snagged. Of course, there are players that everyone prefers and those at the sidelines who know that they are outsiders, but still maybe good enough to make the cut.

Those people really got to shine in the draft, as teams were hungry for that proverbial raw talent they can shape into functioning athletes and let them play at the highest level possible. Many challenges have emerged with those compensatory picks, but the truth is – it made for a very entertaining event to watch, seeing how teams were forced to think very quickly on their feet indeed! 

4. Best NFL Draft to Date

Some will even argue that the 2024 NFL Draft was the best to date there has been, and they may not be entirely wrong. After all, it was a super fun and drama-ridden event to watch and we wouldn’t mind another such one in 2025!
