Cam Newton Sings Praises for Lamar Jackson, Labels the Baltimore Ravens Star the 'Greatest Dual Threat in NFL History'
When it comes to high praise, if an expert in their field bows down to your talents, then you know you are doing something right, and this is certainly the case when it comes to the assessment made by veteran NFL quarterback Cam Newton and his recent comments about two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.
35-year-old Newton, whose NFL career came to an apparent faltering end at the Carolina Panthers, was asked whether he felt he was the greatest dual threat in the game ever, i.e. a quarterback who is well-versed in the art of rushing and letting his feet do the talking as much as his arm, he called out Lamar Jackson as the cream of the crop.
Jackson, who steered the Baltimore Ravens to the AFC Championship game last time around, will be looking to take things up a notch in 2024, and fans who feel that John Harbaugh’s team can win their first Super Bowl in over a decade can help make the most of their wagers by making use of this great analysis of the best NFL sportsbooks out there, before placing the bet.
Newton highlighted the Ravens star as the best in the business, stating,
"Lamar's style is different than mine,"
"He's got big plays, any play. He's got speed that I never had. And he's just a legend. And then, I played the game more powerful ... I can run, but I'm going to probably get caught. Vick, Lamar, they ain't getting caught."
Newton knows how to complete rushing touchdowns, with his total of 75 being way ahead of the field when it comes to the best-ever NFL numbers, but it’s interesting that Cam still feels that Jackson has more to offer in that regard.
Cam Newton has also offered his opinion on which out of Dak Prescott and Jalen Hurts would get his pick, opting for the Dallas Cowboys star over the Philadelphia Eagles QB, explaining that he would consider him the superior performer, even when compared to the likes of Justin Herbert, Kirk Cousins, Trevor Lawrence and Kyler Murray.
As for Lamar Jackson, well, he’s very much gearing up for the new season and has insisted that his wide receivers come to him during the break ahead of the training camp with Jeff Zrebiec, from The Athletic, quoting the Baltimore QB stating,
“They’re going to have to come to South Florida. They’re going to have to do it. We’re trying to get to the Super Bowl, and for us to do that, we have to grind. We have to build chemistry”.
Zrebiec added, “The irony, of course, is that it was Jackson who didn’t attend more than half of the voluntary organized team activities, which are opportunities to grind, build chemistry and get on-field work with pass catchers”.
Among the many who have questioned Lamar Jackson’s ability to make an impact in the postseason is sports analyst Chris Broussard, who echoed others on the matter, commenting;
“You guys know how much I love Lamar. [But] he’s right though. Stink is right. Come playoff time, and I have a graphic here that shows you the winning percentage showed there, but 33% in the post everything goes down. Completion percentage, touchdown percentage, and interception percentage go up. But that’s worse, and the passer rating drops big time.”
Lamar Jackson will be as determined as anyone to get back out on the field of play in 2024, and don’t be surprised if he once again posts big numbers and puts in a key series of displays as the Ravens seek to deliver on their obvious potential.
