Ask the Oddsmakers- Tracking Travon Walker’s Line Movement to Odds-On Favorite for 2022 NFL Draft
Georgia defensive end Travon Walker saw his stock soar up the draft board leading up to Thursday's first round. How did oddsmakers end up making him the odds-on favorite?
There have been several players that are potential picks at No. 1 in the 2022 NFL Draft, but it appears that Travon Walker will be the first player off the board to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night.
WynnBET Trader John Manica explained to BetSided how the market for the No. 1 pick has developed over time, as Evan Neal, Aidan Hutchinson and Ikem Ekwonu all spent time as the favorite to go No. 1 in this year's draft.
“We have had three different favorites in the No. 1 overall position," Manica said. "Originally, the linemen were co-favorites (Neal/Ekwonu), before the Cam Robinson news hit and Jacksonville signed Scherff in free agency. That turned the attention to the pass rushers. Hutchinson catapulted to the top, only recently to be supplanted by Walker, who took a big move. Walker became the top choice in a few well-known mock drafts and the whole market took money on him going No. 1 overall, prompting us to move to our current position.”
Walker is the clear favorite at WynnBET to go No. 1 ahead of tonight's draft, but there is some value on players like Hutchinson or Ekwonu if you think the Jaguars pivot at the last minute.
